Leaders in USRowing/IRA Collegiate Polls Remain Unchanged

Yale University’s varsity eight, Cornell University’s lightweight men’s varsity eight and Stanford University’s lightweight women’s varsity eight remained unanimous top choices in this week’s unchanged Intercollegiate Rowing Association/USRowing Collegiate Polls. The University of Washington continued to rank No. 1 in the second and third varsity eight polls, as well as the Men’s Ten Eyck Team Coaches Poll.

The Bulldogs continued to rank as the unanimous No. 1 team in the varsity eight poll, earning all 11 first-place votes. Washington, Harvard, Cal and Princeton also held their positions from last week to remain in the top five.

The Big Red continued to sit atop an unchanged lightweight eight men’s poll, again receiving all 11 first-place votes. Cornell was followed by Princeton, Columbia, Yale and Harvard, keeping their respective top-five rankings as well.

The Cardinal followed suit, remaining the unanimous choice for the lightweight women’s poll, earning all seven first-place votes. This is the final poll for the lightweight women before the IRA Championships. The top five continued to be comprised of Princeton, Boston, Harvard-Radcliffe and Wisconsin, who all held their positions from last week.

Earning nine first-place votes, the University of Washington continued to top the men’s second varsity eight poll, followed by Yale, who received the other two votes. Cal, Brown and Harvard remained in the top five, holding onto their respective third through fifth positions.

With 10 first-place votes in the men’s third varsity eight, Washington built its lead on Yale, who remained in second place. Cal, Princeton and Harvard remained in their third, fourth and fifth positions in the rankings.

The Ten Eyck Trophy standings remained unchanged all the way down to the 16th position. Washington continued to lead, followed closely by Yale in second. Cal, Harvard and Princeton rounded out the top five. Colgate University cracked into the rankings after an impressive win at the Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta and are ranked No. 24 this week.

James Ten Eyck Trophy Points Poll: Points are determined by taking the totals from each event (Varsity, 2nd Varsity, 3rd Varsity) and multiplying them by their weighting in the Ten Eyck Formulas. (5x for Varsity, 4x for 2nd Varsity, 3x for 3rd Varsity. Points are then added up and totals divided by 10.
