Goals of ODP Camp: USRowing’s Olympic Development Program aims to expand the current athlete identification system by creating more opportunities and pathways to the national team. The goal of the program is to create developmental opportunities for athletes on their way to making both the U23 and senior national teams, as well as give athletes from non-traditional rowing backgrounds pathways to elite-level rowing.

Camp Structure: This is an extended athlete identification camp that will focus on athlete development in the areas of small boat rowing, elite-level training, and demonstrating national team pathways. Selected athletes will participate in 2-3 sessions each day, along with educational segments with the intent to accelerate their rowing development towards the U23 and senior team levels.

Target Athletes: Athletes that demonstrate U23 and eventual Senior Team potential

– 6:12 target 2k score or better.

– Desire to compete at the elite level

– Age: While the camp aims to target younger athletes in the collegiate ranks (freshman and sophomores), there is no age requirement for athletes that show long-term senior team potential.

Please note: The above targets (2K and age) are not absolute. Athletes will be accepted to camp based on a variety of other factors including, but not limited to, past rowing experience, coach recommendations, and demonstrated capacity/potential to be an elite level rower.

Coxswains: The U23 ODP camp will admit 1-2 coxswains. Coxswains must be born in 1998 or later and submit recordings and coach recommendations to USRowing’s Director of Athlete Identification and Development, Brett Gorman, at brett.gorman@usrowing.org.
