March 21, 2019, 8:00 p.m. EDT – “What You Don’t Know Could Hurt You: A Look Into Your Legal Obligations as a Coach to Keep Your Athletes Safe”
What do you know about your legal obligations as a coach? Anything? Nothing? Then, you are not going to want to miss this!
This month’s webinar is NOT about providing you legal advice. Designed for coaches and administrators, USRowing’s Steve Hargis will share a pragmatic approach that will help you and your program’s coaches understand what is expected in providing a safe environment for your athletes.
Among others, Steve will tackle questions like:
- What is the current selection practice of, and training for, coaches?
- How do you assess conditioning and readiness of athletes to participate?
- Do you provide a “safe playing environment?”
- Have you updated your Emergency Management Plan for your club or boathouse?
- Have you received the background check on your new volunteer(s)?
- Do you have adequate liability insurance coverage?
Steve also will share how administrators and head coaches can review these obligations with their coaching staff each season before on- and off-water practices begin. He’ll offer guidan
ce on how you and your staff can keep your program on the right legal path…and, most importantly, keep everyone safe.
