2019 USRowing Annual Convention Heading Back to Philadelphia
By USRowing Staff • December 10, 2018
Mark your calendars now, as the USRowing Annual Convention is coming back to Philadelphia in 2019. Scheduled for December 5-8, the event will be held downtown at the Philadelphia 201 Hotel, just minutes from historic Boathouse Row.
Co-hosted locally by the Schuylkill Navy, the four-day convention will be highlighted by USRowing’s Coaching Development Program, which includes the Advanced Coaches Conference featuring top U.S. and international coaches, the Level 2 Coaching Certification Program and the new Level 3 Coaching Certification Program, which was beta-tested this weekend at the convention in San Diego.
“We’re excited to bring the convention back to Philadelphia in 2019 and to once again be working with the Schuylkill Navy,” said USRowing Chief Executive Officer Patrick McNerney. “The last convention in Philadelphia had a great energy and was one of our largest, most successful conventions ever. We’re looking forward to an even better event next year. We encourage everyone to join us in Philadelphia to network with your fellow rowers and celebrate the sport we all love.”
In addition to the coaching development programs, USRowing will offer programming for everyone in the rowing community. Business of Rowing 2.0 will feature programming for rowing administrators, focusing on what rowing clubs need to be become more successful and diverse, while the Masters Track and Junior Day features programming for rowers of all ages.
While its foundation is built around programming, the USRowing Annual Convention also offers a great opportunity to network with fellow members of the rowing community, hang out with friends, enjoy good food and drink, and hobnob with the “movers and shakers of rowing.” It’s a chance to celebrate the sport we love and honor some of the truly remarkable members of the rowing community through the annual awards reception.
“Our sport is steeped in history, but it’s growing and, more importantly, it’s changing,” said Bonnie Mueller, Vice Commodore, Schuylkill Navy of Philadelphia. “As a Schuylkill Navy community, we look forward to working with partners from across the country to build a national event that no one will want to miss — one that honors rowing’s great tradition but also kicks off the new Olympic year with our collective eyes fixed on our exciting and dynamic future.”
