Princeton, N.J. – Last night, fans, athletes, coaches and families came together at the New York Athletic Club to celebrate seven distinguished members of the rowing community, while raising funds for the U.S. national teams.
Now in its eighth year, the 2018 Golden Oars shifted its focus towards honoring the record-setting performances of the junior, under 23, para and senior national team athletes, as well as honoring the USRowing Medal of Honor recipient. A silent and live auction kicked-off the evening, while a room of over 300 attendees mixed and mingled with long-time supporters and national team athletes past and present.
The seven individuals honored last night cincluded David A. Grant, recipient of the USRowing Medal of Honor; Clark Dean, Under 19 Male Athlete of the Year; Francesca Raggi, Under 19 Female Athlete of the Year; Emily Kallfelz, Under 23 Female Athlete of the Year; Andrew Gaard, Under 23 Male Athlete of the Year; Andrew Campbell, Male Athlete of the Year; and Vicky Opitz, Female Athlete of the Year.
Thursday’s inclement weather didn’t stop the seven honorees from invigorating the room with their acceptance speeches. Select photos from the event can be viewed here, while additional photos will be uploaded next week. Watch the seven award winners accept their awards and address the room below.
