Yale and Cornell Top First USRowing Collegiate Coaches’ Polls of the Year

PRINCETON, NJ – Yale University’s men’s heavyweight varsity eight earned the No. 1 spot in the first USRowing Collegiate Coaches’ Poll of the season, while Cornell University topped the men’s lightweight eight poll.

Yale earned five first-place votes to take the top position in the heavyweight poll. University of California at Berkeley ranked second, earning seven first-place votes. University of Washington, Harvard University and Princeton University rounded out the top five.

In the lightweight men’s poll, Cornell University earned all four first-place votes. University of Pennsylvania ranked second, followed by Princeton, Yale and Harvard.

Due to limited participation this week, the first women’s lightweight eight poll of the year will be released next week.
