2018 USRowing Call for Nominations: At-Large Board Positions and Committee Vacancies

USRowing invites nominations for individuals to join our team and submit their candidacy for the At-Large Director positions on the Board of Directors and the vacancies on the Junior High Performance Committee and Adaptive Committee.

Nominations for the following positions are due Monday, January 29, 2018.

Board Positions:

  1. Two (2) At-Large Directors to the Board of Directors are up for election by those Directors defined in Section 26 (A)-(E). These positions are for a three-year term of office beginning with the first board meeting following the election in March of 2018. At-Large Directors are not required to have competed, coached or directly served rowing and are not required to have been a member as of July 1, 2017.

Standing Committees:

  1. The Female and Male Athlete Representatives to the Junior High Performance Committee are currently vacant following the December 2017 election. Per the USRowing Bylaws, these positions will be filled by the CEO in consultation with the constituency. The term will commence immediately after selection by the CEO and will run through the remainder of the four-year term (December 31, 2021). Athlete Representatives must meet definition of “Athlete Members” (see below).
  2. The Female Athlete Representative to the Adaptive Committee is currently vacant following the December 2017 election. Per the USRowing Bylaws, this position will be filled by the CEO in consultation with the constituency. The term will commence immediately after selection by the CEO and will run through the remainder of the four-year term (December 31, 2021). Athlete Representatives must meet definition of “Athlete Members” (see below).
  3. Five (5) At-Large Representatives to the Adaptive Committee are currently vacant, having not been filled during the December 2016 election process. Per the USRowing Bylaws, these positions will be filled by the CEO in consultation with the constituency. The term will commence immediately after selection by the CEO and will run through the remainder of the four-year term (December 31, 2020).

Nominations

Interested parties should declare their intent by submitting the nomination form and disclosure form with all required materials no later than the date indicated above to USRowing and acknowledge acceptance of the responsibilities and duties of the position that they seek by signature on the self-nomination form.

Athlete Representatives must meet definition of Athlete Members:

Athlete Members [USRowing Bylaws: Article II, Section 11(A)]

Athlete members shall consist of those individuals who meet the following definition of “athlete”: an individual who has represented the United States in the Olympic, Paralympic, Pan American or World Championships within the preceding ten (10) years (“Athlete Member”).

The 10-year measure will constitute athletes representing the United States from 2008-2017.

Selection

The two At-Large Directors to the Board of Directors will be elected in March by those Board of Directors as defined in Section 26 (A)-(E) and will be seated beginning with the first board meeting following that election.

The CEO, in consultation with their respective constituencies, will select the vacant committee positions. These positions will be filled by the week of February 12, 2018.
