Rowing Can Help Change Lives On Giving Tuesday

PRINCETON, N.J. – Teamwork. Camaraderie. Dedication. These characteristics are hard-coded in the DNA of all rowers. What drives these athletes to push themselves beyond barriers and continue to return to one of the most fulfilling sports in the world?

It’s something worth sharing.

Now is the time to pay it forward this #GivingTuesday, and bring the sport of rowing to future generations of athletes. Together we can make a difference, through a donation to USRowing’s William M. Hollenback Jr. Annual Fund

Freedom Rows athlete and Paralympic hopeful Bennie Jose Perez said it best: “The sky is the limit, and I am flying every day. Thank you, Freedom Rows, for allowing me to shoot for the stars.”

On Nov. 28, USRowing is participating in #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving. Held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the holiday giving season and inspires people to collaborate on improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.

How is the sport of rowing changing lives?

USRowing’s America Rows programs change lives by offering rowing opportunities to all, including underserved communities and veterans with disabilities. As a result of these programs, many men and women, boys and girls are finding new meaning to life. Bring the sport of rowing to future generations of athletes and coaches, inspire them and make a difference. Here’s where your support will go:

America Rows

Thanks to the America Rows scholarship program, we provide assistance to America Rows athletes wishing to compete at Youth Nationals qualification regattas and attend Junior National Team development and selection camps.

Freedom Rows

USRowing introduced the sport of rowing to nearly 900 veterans (and growing!) through the Freedom Rows program thanks to a Veteran’s Affairs Adaptive Sports Grant, and more than 125 individuals with spinal cord injuries through a grant from the Craig H. Neilsen Foundation.

Today is the global day of giving. Celebrate this special day with us by:

  • Making a tax-deductible donation to USRowing
  • Posting on social media using hashtags #GivingTuesday and #RowersGive
  • Sharing your own experiences about how rowing has changed your life, and encourage friends and family to donate
  • Encouraging your workplace to match your donations on #GivingTuesday

You can also be a part of this global movement by making a gift to the NRF in support of the USA athletes training to represent the United States of America.

Since 1966 the mission of the NRF has always been about supporting the athletes! The NRF supports athletes who pursue excellence in the sport of rowing with the primary goal of promoting the United States’ participation in international rowing competitions, provide for the preservation of rowing history, and manage the National Rowing Hall of Fame.
