Washington, Western Washington and Bates Top the Final Regular Season USRowing / CRCA Poll

Princeton, N.J. — After a 14-year drought, the University of Washington women’s varsity overcame the rival University of California in a clean sweep this weekend at the Pac-12 Championship. The win kept the Washington ladies in the top ranking of the week eight USRowing/Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Division I, II and III polls, presented by Pocock Racing Shells.

The second-place University of California kept its ranking in the Division I polls and earned one first-place vote this week with a strong showing at the Pac-12 Championship. The University of Michigan jumped up to the third-place ranking while pushing the University of Texas down to fourth, tied with The Ohio State University.

Western Washington University had a clean sweep in the Division II poll this week, collecting all five first-place votes. The University of Central Oklahoma held its rank in second place, while Mercyhurst University soared five rankings up to third after an impressive finish at the Dad Vail Regatta.

In the Division III poll, Bates College held the top ranking after winning the grand final in both varsity eights at National Invitational Rowing Championships and receiving all ten first-place votes. This will be Bates’ third NESCAC title and 11th-straight year returning to the Division III Championships.

Williams College, Wellesley College and Tufts University all rose in rankings to the top 2, 4, and 5 spots, respectively. Ithaca College held its standing in third place.

All top finishing teams in their divisions will challenge each other one last time at the 2017 NCAA Championships May 27-28 in West Windsor, NJ. Final selections available here: DI, DII, DIII.
