Support to help fund the U.S. team competing in Rio and other rowing events
NEW YORK — BNY Mellon has become a gold medal sponsor of USRowing and the U.S. team competing in Rio. As part of its sponsorship, BNY Mellon will support the team heading to the Olympics and beyond, including the USRowing Master Nationals on August 17-21 in Worcester, Mass. This sponsorship represents an extension of BNY Mellon’s long-term commitment to the sport of rowing, both in the U.S and abroad.
“BNY Mellon is delighted to further deepen our links to the rowing community through our support of USRowing and our talented American athletes headed to the Summer Games. As an organization, we appreciate how important teamwork, discipline and endurance are to success, so this partnership is a perfect fit. The team exemplifies dedication, and their commitment is an example of being truly invested,” said Mitchell Harris, CEO of BNY Mellon Investment Management.
“We’ve been very involved with the rowing community worldwide for a number of years,” BNY Mellon Wealth Management CEO Don Heberle said. “We are presenting sponsors of the storied Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, and have been the title sponsor, along with our boutique Newton Investment Management, of the Oxford and Cambridge and Boat Races in London.”
The announcement is a significant development for USRowing as the organization prepares for the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games. These funds will support the USRowing team and athletes as they train to compete on the world’s greatest sporting stage.
“We are proud to partner with BNY Mellon, a company which shares our guiding principles of teamwork, dedication to excellence, and a focus on world-class performance. They have demonstrated a strong commitment to rowing through their partnerships with Head of the Charles and the London Boat Races and we are incredibly honored that they have chosen to support USRowing,” said Beth Kohl, Chief Marketing Officer for USRowing. “As our team prepares for Rio, we appreciate the support of an organization of this caliber that will allow us to further shine a spotlight on our sport, athletes and coaches. We look forward to an exciting year ahead.”
