PRINCETON, N.J. – USRowing and the Sacramento State Aquatic Center are pleased to announce that the 2014 USRowing Youth National Championships, presented by Rancho Cordova Travel and Tourism, will be held June 13-15 on Lake Natoma.
“We are extraordinarily excited to host the 2014 USRowing Youth National Championships,” said Sacramento State Aquatic Center Director Brian Dulgar. “Some of the fastest crews in the country have raced on Lake Natoma, and we want to raise the bar for this championship event.”
Lake Natoma has played host to numerous high-caliber national events including the NCAA Women’s Rowing Championships, Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Championships, Pac-12 Conference Championships, Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association (WIRA) Championships and USRowing Southwest Junior Regional Championships.
In addition, Rancho Cordova Travel and Tourism has come on board as a title sponsor of the 2014 event.
“Rancho Cordova Travel and Tourism is thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with USRowing to bring the Youth Nationals to the Sacramento State Aquatic Center. We, the hoteliers in Rancho Cordova, as well as the staff at the Aquatic Center are looking forward to reinforcing why we are a premier location to host and conduct a prestigious event of this magnitude,” said Josiah Kitonga, chairman of the board.
Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge, Tenn., has been the site of the youth championships for the past three years, including the 2013 USRowing Youth Nationals to be held June 7-9, where national titles will be awarded in 18 boat classes.
"The venue and staff in Oak Ridge have been fantastic hosts for the past three years. Next year, USRowing is excited to bring this event to the West Coast for the first time in its history,” said USRowing Events Manager A.J. Dominique. “The course at Lake Natoma is one of the best in the country, and certainly a fitting venue for this premier event."
