National Team Erg Standards

Erg standards are set by National Team Coaches and Staff to give athletes an idea of the physiological standard that is expected at the highest levels of rowing. These standards are to be used as guidelines, not rules. Erg scores are just one of the several ways athletes are evaluated. We hope to provide all aspiring National Team members with the knowledge of the types of physical performances that will be expected at different stages in their careers.

The erg standards are set forth from Junior development all the way through Olympic and Paralympic levels.

  Junior International 2000 or later 5’9” or taller 7:20 or faster 1:36.5 for 1’ or 1:39 for 500m 1:58 or faster
  High Performance 2001 or later 5’9” or taller 7:28 or faster 1:38 for 1’ or 1:41.5 for 500m 2:02 or faster
  Development 2002 5’8” or taller 5’8” or taller 7:40 or faster 1:41.5 for 1’ or 1:44 for 500m 2:05 or faster
  Development 2003/2004 5’8” or taller 5’8” or taller  7:50 to 8:00
