America Rows Junior National Team Camp Grant Program
The America Rows Junior National Team Camp Grant Program’s goal is to increase and encourage athletes from ethnically, racially and economically* underrepresented populations to be involved in the junior national team selection process through USRowing’s development and selection camps.
2019 America Rows Junior National Team Camp Grant Program
- To empower and invite America Rows’ athletes to become more competitive in the sport of rowing.
- Demonstrate the viability of having multicultural rowers.
- Be the positive leaders and role models that others from multicultural backgrounds can emulate.
Participants: Up to eight total male or female athletes.
- Participants must meet the Junior National Team selection camp or development camp criteria.
- Participants must earn an invitation to one of the Junior National Team camps.
Cost: USRowing will scholarship up to $4,000 per athlete. This may include, but is not limited to, airfare, room and board, camp fees and other camp expenses.
Any USRowing registered athlete who can meet the time standard and represents an ethnically, racially or economically underrepresented population that is less than 10 percent of USRowing’s membership is eligible to submit an application. These populations include: African American, Hispanic, Asian or Pacific Islander, or Native American.
*Economically will mean that the athlete is living below or at the federal guidelines for poverty and or qualify for the free or reduced federal lunch program.
Up to eight total male or female athletes will be selected from the eligible applicants.
USRowing will electronically send letters to the coaches and program managers of America Rows programs. The letters will personally invite and alert programs of the ID camps in their region. The programs will be responsible for the ID camp fee. If the athlete is selected to participate at either a Junior National Team Selection Camp or Development Camp, athletes can apply for a scholarship. The applications will be managed, vetted and financial awards will be determined by USRowing’s Senior Director of Programs and Communications and select junior national team staff.
The 2019 grant application will be available beginning March 1, 2019.
