Men’s Vice Chair
Now in his second term as Male Vice Chair of USRowing, Jim brings a lifetime of commitment and rowing history to the Board of Directors. Jim started his long affiliation with USRowing as a high school sculler, winning the first Junior World Championships single title in 1967. He continued his career racing for the New York Athletic Club and Northeastern University. During his competitive years, Jim was a member of almost every U.S. National Team from 1967-1983, including U.S. Olympic entries in 1972, 1976 and 1980. He has always been involved in the growth and governance of rowing from his time as the representative to the USOC Athletes Advisory council, Men’s Olympic Rowing committee, NCAA rowing committee and now the Board of Directors of USRowing. He is a licensed USRowing referee and has added many start-up rowing organizations over the years. Jim has coached at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and is presently the head coach of the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. He has also coached several World Championship and Olympic teams.
