2017 USRowing Convention

The 2017 USRowing Convention will be hosted by Nathan Benderson Park and Visit Sarasota County on November 30-December 3, 2017, in Sarasota, FL.

The USRowing Annual Convention is open to all USRowing Championship members.

Planned Programs

See below for suggestions for who will get the most out of the various programs available at this year's Annual Convention.

  • Coaches

    Advanced Coaches Conference

    The goal of this year’s Advanced Coaches Conference is to provide you with a
    variety of subjects presented by some of the top rowing coaches and sports
    experts in the US. The presenters will share their knowledge with you to help you
    produce fast boats.

    Level 2 Coaching Certification

    Complete the coursework and test required to earn your Level 2 Coaching Certification. The “bread and butter” of the coaching education program, this level is designed to train assistant and head coaches at the high school and collegiate levels.

    CRCA Collegiate Coaches Conference

    USRowing and the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association are partnering together to bring the CRCA Collegiate Coaches Conference to the USRowing Annual Convention. College coaches, both CRCA members and non-members, are invited to attend this track of programming.

    Level 1 Coaching Certification

    This program is aimed at the beginner coach. It is for candidates with no, or minimal, rowing background (teachers, parents, fitness instructors…) who will coach beginners of all ages. This course will provide coaches with the basic knowledge of the sport of rowing, teaching methods and the basics of the rowing technique.


    Coaching Development Bundle- Register for your Level 1 or Level 2 Certification, and add the Advanced Coaches Conference for only $150 ($200 savings).

    Collegiate Coaches Bundle- Register for the CRCA Collegiate Coaches Conference and add the Advanced Coaches Conference for $250 ($100 savings). CRCA members can combine this with their discounted rate for higher savings.

  • Administrators

    Regatta Management

    The Regatta Management program will provide an opportunity to learn from the best minds in the rowing world about the various aspects required to run a successful regatta.

    Business of Rowing

    Returning for this year, USRowing’s popular “Business of Rowing” program is THE place for rowing’s administrators and decision makers to come together and discuss relevant topics.

    America Rows Inclusion and Adaptive Rowing Forum

    The America Rows Inclusion and Adaptive Rowing Forum provides an opportunity to explore strategies for creating inclusive and adaptive rowing programs that contribute to safe and welcoming programs for all athletes.


    Total Administrator’s Bundle- Register for 2 administrator programs, and get the third free! ($75 savings).

    Administrator Upgrade- Register for the Advanced Coaches Conference, and get a reduced rate on one administrator program. ($25 savings).

  • Athletes and Referees

    Masters Rowing Track

    This year’s Convention will feature a day of programming focusing on the unique needs of the Masters rowing community.

    Junior Day

    Join us for a day of programming aimed at junior competitors, and the parents that allow them to participate in the sport.

    Referee Programs

    The 2017 referee program will include an Advanced Referee College and the annual December meeting of the Referee Committee and Regional Coordinators.

    USRowing Annual Awards Ceremony and Happy Hour

    The USRowing Annual Awards Reception is the last opportunity to celebrate the best from the year in rowing. Starting with a “Happy Hour”, attendees are invited to join USRowing in recognizing the people that help make the sport great.

Airport and Ground Transportation

Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ): Serviced by Air Canada, American, Delta, Elite Airways, JetBlue, United, and WestJet. SRQ is the closest airport to the host hotel, approximately 4 miles away.

Tampa International Airport (TPA): Serviced by numerous airlines, with more nonstop destinations, Tampa International Airport is another option for getting to the Sarasota-Bradenton area. It is located approximately 66 miles from the host hotel.
