The 2017 “Business of Rowing” program, presented by RegattaCentral, will be held on Friday, December 1, 2017, at the Hyatt Regency Sarasota, as part of the USRowing Convention.

    Speaker: Amanda Kraus
    Amanda Kraus, founder and executive director of Row New York and adjunct
    assistant professor at the NYU Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, will
    inspire and teach your organization how to fundraise, secure grants and build
    lasting relationships within your community.

    “Recruiting and Hiring Coaches” (Administrators Only)

    Athletes may win the races, but your coaches and staff are crucial in providing a
    positive environment for athletes to thrive. Today, finding the right people goes
    well beyond resumes. Administrators will learn how to find the right candidates,
    how to protect their athletes and organization, and what USRowing and the
    Center for SafeSport consider best hiring practices in sports today.

    “Double-Goal Coach: Coaching for Winning and Life Lessons” (Coaches Only)

    Speaker: Positive Coaching Alliance
    The research and experiences of great coaches across the country is clear:
    positive is powerful. In this highly interactive workshop – sparked by video-based
    advice from top pro athletes and coaches on PCA’s National Advisory Board –
    attendees explore why and how to pursue both winning and the more important
    goal of teaching life lessons through sports.

    Attendees will leave the workshop as a PCA-certified Double-Goal Coach!

    “Corporate Team Building, One Stroke At A Time”

    Speaker: Tom Feaster
    Rowing is a life-long sport, but people take their first stroke at a variety of ages.
    Tom Feaster, president of The Stewards Foundation in Tampa, Florida, will explain why corporate rowing is your next untapped market and how you can offer team
    building exercises to grow your organization.

    “Year Round Revenue”

    Speakers: Matt Knifton, Kane Larin, Stephen Rodriguez, Bob Whitford, Tom
    Feaster, Steve White
    Being able to row year round doesn’t just help avoid those dreaded weeks stuck
    on the rowing machine, it opens up a world of business opportunities. The ‘Year
    Round Revenue’ panel of rowing business experts will share its insight into new
    ways to increase revenue and use your location to your advantage.

    The panel consists of Matt Knifton (owner of Texas Rowing Center), Kane Larin (Director of Programs and Operations at Community Rowing, Inc.), Stephen Rodriguez (CEO of SANCA), Bob Whitford (Operations Manager of SANCA), Tom Feaster (president of The Stewards Foundation) and Steve White (Director of Rowing at The Stewards’ Foundation).

    “Member Services Partner Panel”

    Speakers: Susan Smith, Jules Zane, John Wik, Wendy Pierce, Traci Stocker

    Membership Services staff at USRowing will sit down with their partners at
    Regatta Central (Traci Stocker) and Roehrs Insurance (Wendy Pierce) to answer
    your questions about organizational best practices and available services. The
    panel will conclude with breakout sessions to close out the day, which will offer
    one-on- one opportunities to discuss improvements, ask questions and fix
    problems.
