Referees
USRowing referees are essential to the sport of rowing, with their main task of ensuring fairness and safety by manning a variety of positions essential to a successful regatta. In addition to ensuring safety and fairness, USRowing referees also play a critical role in helping to develop the Rules of Rowing.
While many referees abide by the mantra “it’s a successful regatta if we are not seen,” the amount of dedication, knowledge and passion that USRowing referees put into maintaining their referee license is astounding. The sport of rowing would not be what it is today without their presence.
USRowing has compiled the documents and links below that future referees, current referees, rowers, coaches, parents and spectators should find helpful. We encourage you to send USRowing information related to refereeing that might be useful for current referees or those involved with the sport.
If you are interested in becoming a referee, would like more information or have any questions, please e-mail Member Services at members@usrowing.org or call 1-800-314-4769.
