Fan's Choice Award Winners

Rowing enthusiasts throughout the country made their choices for the inaugural USRowing "Fan's Choice" Awards, co-sponsored by row2k Media. While USRowing maintains a strong and long tradition of rewarding excellence in rowing, 2011 marked the first time that the rowing community was invited to participate by nominating and voting on their favorite athletes and coaches of the year.

Categories and Nomination Criteria

Fan’s Choice Rower of the Year

Criteria for Selection: A male or female rower or coxswain who has achieved extraordinary success in 2012. Success may be defined as an outstanding performance, having a breakout year, perseverance in spite of difficult odds, consistent strong performance, outstanding service off the water, a combination of the above or other worthy measures.

• Junior Rower of the Year: Defined as a junior/scholastic rower in the 2012 spring season.
• Collegiate Rower of the Year: Defined as a collegiate rower in the 2012 spring season.
• Masters Rower of the Year: Defined as a masters rower in the spring/summer 2012.
• National Team Rower of the Year: Defined as a member of a USRowing National Team in the spring/summer 2012.

Fan’s Choice Coach of the Year

• Junior Coach of the Year: Defined as a coach of a junior/scholastic rowing team in the 2012 spring/summer season.
• Collegiate Coach of the Year: Defined as a coach of a collegiate rowing team in the 2012 spring season.
• Masters Coach of the Year: Defined as a coach of a masters rowing team in the 2012 season.
