2006 Senior World Championships Trials (Updated 7/30)

Tentative Information for Senior Worlds Trials – July 31-August 5, 2006

Tentative Schedule as of July 30

Racing will be conducted from the boathouse at Mercer Lake.  

Please park in the lot as you come off of Post Rd, not in the gravel next to the boathouse. All boats will be stored outside, on the lawn behind the national team bays (far side of the boathouse). Your boat will be moved if it is elsewhere.  

There is no access to shower facilities at the Caspersen Boathouse. Restroom facilities will be available.  

Events: M1x, LM1x, LW1x, M2x, LM2x, LM4x, LW4x, M2-, LM2-, M2+, W4-, M4+, LM8+.

For events with finals only (4 or fewer entries) 

Monday, July 31: Athlete Meeting 

Wednesday, August 2: Finals Race #1 

Thursday, August 3: Finals Race #2 (first 3 competitors from Finals #1) 

Friday, August 4: Finals Race #3 (2 winners) *Note: This race will only be held if necessary. 

For events with 5-8 entries: 

Monday, July 31: Athlete Meeting, Heats

Tuesday, August 1: Repechages 

Wednesday, August 2: Finals Race #1  

Thursday, August 3: Finals Race #2 (first 3 competitors from Finals #1)

Friday, August 4:  Finals Race #3 (2 winners) *Note: This race will only be held if necessary.

For events necessitating semifinals (9-16 entries)

*Note: If more than 16 entries, a time trial will be held to drop to the top 16 entries and will then follow the following progression)

Tuesday, August 1: Heats and Repechages 

Wednesday, August 2: Semifinals 

Thursday, August 3: Finals Race #1 

Friday, August 4: Finals Race #2 (first 3 competitors from Finals #1) 

Saturday, August 5: Finals Race #3 (2 winners) *Note: This race will only be held if necessary. 

*Practice Schedule – Competitors can arrive anytime AFTER Tuesday, July 25, 2006.

Weekdays: Course will be open from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.- Dark

Saturday: Course will be open from 9 a.m.-11 a.m

Sunday: Course will be open 7:00 p.m.- Dark

No one is permitted on the lake outside of the above listed times, no exceptions. You are subject to being fined by the Country Park Rangers.

Athlete meeting will be held at the Caspersen Olympic Rowing Center in the national team bays (far side of boathouse). You or your representative MUST attend the meeting or you will be scratched from competition. 

 

Weigh-ins (athletes and boats): 

At FISA weight. Weigh-in window will be the normal two-hours to one-hour before the start of your event. 

Men: 70 kg average, 72.5 kg max

Women: 57 kg average, 59 kg max 

 

Minimum Boat Weights:

8+: 96kg

4+: 51 kg

4-: 50kg

4x: 52 kg

2+: 32 kg

2x/2-: 27 kg

1x: 14 kg

 

Registration Information

  • Register online through Regatta Central at www.regattacentral.com
  • Entry Fee: $25.00
  • Registration deadline Friday, July 28, 2006, at MIDNIGHT.
  • USRowing membership is required: visit www.usrowing.org to renew or join.
  • Senior National Team Speed Orders are open to all collegiate, club and unaffiliated athletes. Under 18, high school, and junior national team candidates will not be considered.

Directions to Mercer Lake and the Caspersen Olympic Rowing Center

From Route 1 North or South

  • Take the Alexander Road Exit (east) off of Route 1 towards the Princeton Junction Train Station
  • Alexander Road dead-ends at North Post Road
  • Make a right hand turn on to North Post Road
  • Proceed through two stoplights
  • Stay on Post Road past the Conover Fields and the Mercer Oaks Golf Club. This road will take you right to the boathouse
  • After these fields, there will be a 'road closed' sign at the entrance to the park, on the boathouse side of the lake.
  • Ignore this sign and head straight down the access road; the boathouse will be on your left as you reach lake. 

From North on Route 206

  • Route 206 into Princeton
  • Left at traffic light by Borough Municipal Building onto Nassau Street
  • Go three traffic lights to Washington Road
  • Washington Road to U.S. Route 1 South
  • Use directions for "From North and South via U.S. 1" 

From Hightstown (Route 30)

  • Take Route 30 south and turn right at the Church Road traffic lights
  • Stay on Church Road and Cross Old Trenton Road
  • The next light will be Village Road . Make a left onto Village Road
  • The next light will be Post Road . Make a left onto Post Road
  • Follow the directions for "From Route 1 North or South" to the boathouse 

From Allentown (Route 130)

  • Take Route 130 north and turn left at the Church Road traffic lights
  • Stay on Church Road and cross Old Trenton Road
  • The next light will be Village Road . Make a left onto Village Road
  • The next light will be Post Road . Make a left onto Post Road
  • Follow the directions for "From Route 1 North or South" to the boathouse
