2005 World Championships Roster Set

INDIANAPOLIS , Ind. -- The 2005 National Team roster has been set, USRowing announced on Thursday. In total, 19 crews will represent the United States at the 2005 FISA World Rowing Championships scheduled to run August 28-September 4 in Gifu , Japan .

 

The U.S. will have crews competing in the men’s single sculls, women’s single sculls, lightweight women’s single sculls, men’s double sculls, women’s double sculls, lightweight men’s double sculls, lightweight women’s double sculls, men’s quadruple sculls, women’s quadruple sculls, lightweight men’s quadruple sculls, lightweight women’s quadruple sculls, men’s pair, women’s pair, men’s pair with coxswain, men’s four, lightweight men’s four, men’s four with coxswain, men’s eight and women’s eight.

 

The 63-person roster includes 32 past national team members and 14 members of the 2004 Olympic Team. Five members of the gold-medal winning Olympic men’s eight – Wyatt Allen, Dan Beery, Matt Deakin, Beau Hoopman and Bryan Volpenhein – return, as do five members of the silver-medal winning women’s eight including coxswain Mary Whipple, Caryn Davies, Megan Dirkmaat, Sam Magee and Anna Mickelson. Allen will be racing in the men’s single sculls, while the remaining four men will be doubling up in the men’s four and eight. On the women’s side, Whipple, Magee and Dirkmaat once again will be racing in the eight, while Davies and Mickelson will be rowing in the quadruple sculls. Two other members of the team – Caroline Lind and Lindsay Shoop – also will be racing in two events. The duo will race in both the women’s pair and eight.
