USRowing is now taking online credit card donations on behalf of Vancouver Lake Crew to help them raise money to rebuild. Click on the Donate link on www.USRowing.org to make a tax deductible donation. Once on the donate page, click the button "Vancouver Lake Crew Tornado Relief Fund," insert you donation amount and the required information. All money raised through this button will go to Vancouver Lake Crew's rebuilding effort.

At 12:24 p.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2008, a tornado touched down near Vancouver Lake on top of the Vancouver Lake Erg house and rowing shells. The F1 tornado lifted the club's two buildings off of the ground and scattered them 300 yards away completely destroying the contents. All 18 training ergs were destroyed, along with all the equipment and supplies. Out of the approximately 50 shells stored at the site, only three survived the falling trees and blowing debris. Hundreds of thousands of dollars of equipment was destroyed.
