Rowing Roster for 2007 Pan American Games Announced
Tuesday, June 26, 2007

PRINCETON, N.J. – USRowing has named its 2007 Pan American Games Team pending final approval of the United States Olympic Committee’s Board of Directors, the organization announced on Tuesday.

The majority of the squad was selected to the team at the 2007 Pan American Games Trials in late May. However, the lightweight four that won at trials removed itself from the Pan American Games after an injury to one of its rowers. The second-place crew from the trials was nominated as the replacement boat.

The 27-person squad includes 16 senior national team veterans. Four rowers have Olympic experience including Dan Beery, who won a gold medal in the men’s eight in 2004, Sebastian Bea, a silver medalist in the men’s pair in 2000, Jamie Schroeder and Matt Smith.

The rowing competition will be held July 14-19 at the Lagoa Rowing Center in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Heats and repechages, or second-chance races, will be held July 14-16, with finals being held July 17-19. The U.S. will be competing in all 13 events.

USRowing is a nonprofit organization recognized by the United States Olympic Committee as the governing body for the sport of rowing in the United States.
