WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – The Malta Boat Club/Maritime Rowing Club composite men's quadruple sculls crew and the North Allegheny High School/Steel City Rowing Club composite women's quadruple sculls crew both earned berths on the 2006 Junior National Team on Thursday evening by meeting the time standard for their respective events during a time trial on Lake Mercer in West Windsor, N.J.
The two crews join four boats -- the men's and women's single sculls and men's and women's double sculls -- that qualified for the team earlier in the day.
The junior men's quadruple sculls includes Sebastian Kirwin, Carter Lindborg, A.J. DiValerio, and Will Kelly. The junior women's quadruple sculls includes Brittney Kelly, Erin Dauson, Suzanne Maddamma and Briana Pittman.
The 2006 World Rowing Junior Championships are slated for early August in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The U.S. also will send the men’s eight, men’s four with coxswain, women’s eight, women’s four and women’s pair to the event. Those boats will be chosen in mid July by the junior national team head coaches from the athletes participating in the junior national team camps that are currently in progress.
