Personal: Sam is a three-time senior national team member...She was part of the Olympic women’s eight that set a world record in the heat and won a silver medal in the final in Athens, Greece...In addition to rowing, Sam played basketball and soccer in high school...She started rowing because of her brother Andrew...During the summer of 2006, she worked as a capabilities intern at NASA in Mountain View, Calif., working on ways to reduce energy and water use within the space program...Sam would like to be an environmental consultant when she gets finished rowing...She enjoys reading environmental Web sites and Sierra Club magazine...She enjoys hiking, reading, and Harry Potter...Her favorite television shows are Friends and Grey’s Anatomy...Her favorite animal is the Polar Bear, which was recently added to the endangered species list because of global warming.
