Personal: Elliot enjoys outdoor sports like telemark skiing, golf and fly-fishing. One of his favorite athletes is downhill ski racing champion Hermann Maier, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and three-time world champion. Elliot watched Maier win two of his gold medals live at the 1999 World Championships in Vail, Colo. He says each of his past coaches have given him something different: coach Dick Curtis built passion in high school, college coaches Geoff Bond and Steve Gladstone developed drive and discipline and club coach Tim McLaren inspired him to continue rowing.
