Personal: Alex got interested in rowing thanks to Jon Allbin, his freshman coach at Stanford. He lists his mom and dad as his personal heroes because they are always encouraging him to try new sports and do his best. Alex enjoys playing golf, watching television, eating and running the dish with Eva. His most memorable sporting achievement is doing a 360-degree dunk in a slam dunk contest in 10th grade. For races, Alex wears his friend Andrew’s Puma socks for good luck. He hopes to someday win the Henley Royal Regatta.
