USRowing Announces 2012 Golden Oars Awards Dinner to Honor Excellence in Rowing

PRINCETON, N.J. – USRowing is pleased to announce the second annual Golden Oars Awards Dinner, presented by One Equity Partners. The dinner is scheduled for Wednesday, November 14 at the New York Athletic Club in New York City.
Co-hosted by USRowing and the National Rowing Foundation, the dinner will honor excellence in our sport during 2012 and serve as a fundraiser for USRowing’s national teams and its diversity, inclusion and adaptive programs. The celebration will feature the presentation of many of USRowing’s annual awards including the Fan’s Choice Awards, and will honor 2012 Olympians, Paralympians and U.S. national teams.
USRowing Board President Peter Cipollone and board member Christine Collins, along with NRF board members Dick Cashin and Anne Martin, will serve as Honorary Co-Chairs. The dinner committee to date includes prominent members of the rowing community including Isabel Bohn, Michael Brown, Richard Butler, Andrew J. Campbell, Rich Caputo, Ali Cox, Liz Demers, Mara Ford, Marcia Hooper, Kate Johnson, Jeff Klepacki, Jamie Koven, Amanda Kraus, Don Langford, Mike Meehan, Liz O’ Leary, Gill Perry, Taylor Ritzel, Raoul Rodriguez, Steven Segaloff and Mary Whipple.

Participation was up across every group, and we had our biggest club and masters national championships ever. Highlighting the event will be the presentation of five of USRowing’s longstanding awards, recognizing members of the rowing community for their service and commitment to the sport including the USRowing Medal of Honor, Jack Kelly Award, Jack Franklin Award, and USRowing Male and Female Athletes of the Year.
USRowing also will present the Anita DeFrantz Award, honoring leaders in diversity and inclusion, and the Adaptive Rowing Award, recognizing achievement in adaptive rowing. The remaining USRowing awards will be presented at the USRowing Annual Convention in Oklahoma City on Saturday, December 1.
