USRowing Launches 2012 Fan’s Choice Awards Campaign
September 07, 2012
Princeton, N.J. - The nomination process is underway for the 2012 Fan’s Choice Awards – recognizing rowers and coaches for their outstanding performances and contributions to our sport over the past year. These awards are nominated and voted on by the rowing community and will once again be presented at the Golden Oars Awards Dinner on November 14 at the New York Athletic Club. Co-sponsored by Row2k Media, these popular awards will be given to a “Rower of the Year” in each of the junior, collegiate, masters and national team categories and a “Coach of the Year” in the junior, collegiate and masters categories.
“Last year marked the launch of the Fan’s Choice Awards, and we were excited by both the quantity and quality of the nominations,” said Beth Kohl, Chief Marketing Officer for USRowing. “Our goal for this campaign is to share outstanding stories of accomplishment and commitment and to allow our fans the opportunity to participate in naming the top performances. Last year’s group of winners set the bar very high, but we know there is a large pool of athletes this year who meet the criteria. We look forward to seeing some strong nominations.”
Nominations can be submitted electronically by midnight on September 23. The selection committee will then announce five finalists in each category and winners will be determined by online voting, which will be open October 2-22 on www.row2k.com. All winners will be invited to the Golden Oars Awards Dinner, where they will receive their awards and attend a special reception with our 2012 Olympians.
