“All As One” The TODAY Show Takes on Princeton University Crew
May 10, 2012
Lake Carnegie and rowers from Princeton University took center stage on Thursday’s edition of The TODAY Show on NBC.
The segment “Today Takes On” featured all four hosts – Matt Lauer, Al Roker, Ann Curry and Natalie Morales. The hosts visited Princeton on April 26 to get a lesson in teamwork and competition from members of the Princeton rowing team.
The hosts learned to row on ergometers and in the tanks, coached by sophomore member of the men’s team, Jason Kopelman, and Kelly Pierce, a senior member of the women's rowing team.
To test their newly acquired skills, The TODAY Show team challenged the Tigers to a race on Lake Carnegie. The TODAY boat won the first race by taking four ringer Princeton students to help them beat eight crew team members who were blindfolded with one hand tied behind their back.
The Tigers came back to win a second race, with the four bow rowers in each boat setting up the stern four. Click below to watch the full segment.
