Celebrate Olympic Day with Team USA at MarketFair
June 08, 2011
PRINCETON, N.J. – Members of the United States women’s rowing team will be on site at MarketFair in West Windsor, N.J. to sign autographs and meet the community on June 23 from 1-3 p.m.
The women’s team recently took over the space formerly occupied by Smith and Hawken in the center. The indoor training facility houses rowing machines, free weights and equipment.
“I love the new space,” said 2010 national team member Natalie Dell. “It’s big and there is a lot of space to move around. Athletes can stay after weight training sessions and stretch or get physical therapy.”
The team, which trains at West Windsor’s Mercer Lake and Princeton’s Carnegie Lake, wrapped up last season the 2010 World Rowing Championships with four medals including a fifth consecutive world title in the women’s eight.
Olympic Day is a worldwide commemoration of Baron Pierre de Coubertin’s June 23, 1894, convening of the first International Olympic Committee (IOC) meeting at the Sorbonne in Paris, and the founding of the Modern Olympic Games. National Olympic Committees (NOCs) throughout the world will also participate in the international celebration, with each Olympic Committee sending Olympic Day greetings to participating nations.
