Michigan Rowing Summer Camp 2008

Description: The University of Michigan Rowing Summer Camp invites girls and boys, ages 13- 18, to attend.  Rowers and coxswains- ranging from top-level juniors to campers new to the sport- will be grouped based on skill levels during rowing sessions.  A novice group will be available for campers with no previous rowing experience.  All campers will be coached by the University of Michigan Women’s and Men’s Rowing coaches.

Description: Since 1971 teens and adults in the Providence metropolitan area have been taking classes in rowing and sculling classes at the Narragansett Boat Club. Our current edition of rowers follows a rowing and sculling progression from barge to Zephyr and into the club's flotilla of singles and sweeps boats. Classes run within a 90-minute timeframe, starting March 31 every six weeks until October 24. We also have special summer youth programs for scullers and sweeps rowers. Description: Six day, all day, high performance sculling camp with coaches Ladislau Tompa and Dan Grancea.  Coach Tompa has coached on 9 USA Junior National Teams!  Coach Grancea, head coach of the University of Pittsburgh, has coached Pitt to 2 National Collegiate Medals!  Camp focuses on preparation for Junior World Trials or USRowing Club National Championships, or fine tune your sculling skills for fall rowing.  One year of competitive sculling experience required.

Ages: Incoming 8th graders to graduating seniors with one year of sculling experience

Description: The summer learn to row camps are for current junior high school and high school students who want to learn to row.  Each camp is two weeks long and meets eight times.  Use of ergs (rowing machines), rowing tanks (indoor), and on the water rowing will all take place.  Safety, equipment use, technique, and fun will all be emphasized.

Description: The emphasis of the program is producing the fastest racing lineups possible.  Participants commit to a full five week, rigorous regimen and will compete at several national regattas (USRowing Nationals included).  No cuts will be made, but there will be Junior A, Junior B, and possibly developmental parts of the program.
