This clip shows the legs only drill being done by one stroke and pausing. Emphasis again is placed on direct placement of the blade at the catch. When rowing legs only, the body placement is “set.” Body angle is established and only the legs move through the drive phase. We look to make sure that the speed of the legs going down is tied to the speed of the hull moving through the water. A good progression for this is to start off by pairs and then add a pair until you reach all eight (or four, etc.).
