Princeton, Mercyhurst, and Smith College Retain Top Spots in Women’s Rowing Collegiate Coaches’ Polls
INDIANAPOLIS – Princeton University claimed the top spot in the first regular season USRowing/Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association NCAA Division I Varsity Eight Coaches Poll, while Mercyhurst College and Smith College topped the Division II and Division III polls, respectively.
In Division I, preseason No. 1 Princeton earned 20 of 23 first-place votes to remain atop the poll. Yale University received one first-place vote to rank second, while Ohio State University moved up to the No. 3 position. Both Brown University and the University of Michigan received one first-place vote and rounded out the top five.
Defending national champion Mercyhurst College remained atop the Division II poll, receiving three of five first-place votes. Western Washington received the other two first-place votes to rank second, while Nova Southeastern moved into the third position.
In the Division III poll, Smith College earned all nine first-place votes to keep the top spot in the poll. Ithaca College ranked second, followed by Trinity College, Williams College, and William Smith College.

Princeton University Tops Preseason Men’s Collegiate Coaches Poll
INDIANAPOLIS – Princeton University claimed the top spot in the preseason USRowing Men’s Varsity Eight Collegiate Coaches Poll, the organization announced Wednesday.
In what was a very close vote, Princeton earned three of the 10 first-place votes to edge the University of California at Berkeley for the top position. Princeton earned 189 polling points to California’s 187 points. The Golden Bears also took home three first-place votes. Harvard University and the University of Washington earned two first-place votes a piece and tied for the No. 3 spot in the poll. The United States Naval Academy rounded out the top five.
