In August 2002, the USRowing Board of Directors announced the formation of the U.S. National Rowing Teams’ Annual Victory Fund, an operating fund that will be used exclusively to benefit the U.S. national rowing teams including the Olympic and world championship teams, the world under-23 regatta team, and the junior national teams.

The Annual Victory Fund was created in recognition that many USRowing members and other donors want to contribute directly to the national rowing teams and want to be assured that their donations will be used exclusively for this purpose.

General contributions to the Annual Victory Fund will be used to support these teams by funding such items as equipment purchases, travel for international competition, full time coaches’ salaries, summer coaches’ stipends, national team apparel, Princeton Training Center expenses, athlete subsistence support and limited administrative costs directly tied to the national teams. In addition, contributions for specific national teams will be accepted and managed within the Victory Fund.

An advisory committee has been formed, as well, to assist in identifying effective ways to develop and manage the Victory Fund.

Four levels of contributors have been established: Medalist to $500, Bronze to $1,000, Silver to $5,000 and Gold above $5,000.

All contributors will be recognized in USRowing publications and will be updated during the year on how their donations are being used. Initial contributors were invited to an Annual Victory Fund Reception at the 2002 national convention and will be given additional recognition at national team events.

Silver and Gold contributors will be provided additional opportunities during the year to meet and consult with senior USRowing leaders, national team coaches and athletes at the Princeton Training Center. Gold contributors will be provided an opportunity to train with the Olympic and world championships teams in Princeton.
